  1. Energy-saving tips and appliance instructions say don't place a fridge/freezer near a radiator. My questions are: How near is near? I have placed the fridge against the wall adjacent to the edge of a small radiator with a 4 cm gap, the max possible with current room arrangements. As far I can tell the heat from the radiator rises up and out into the room, not behind the fridge. The instructions also mention placing an insulating plate between appliance and heat source? What is this, how is it done and where could I get one? Thanks
