  1. Hi, so im trying to re-use an old hollow metal lampstand/or possible it was a candelabra...to make a new lamp. [please see attachment] I have a plastic lampholder, some hollow thread through which to run the cable, and a hex nut to hold it in place. This is attached to a metal cross member I have made and set in place. Now, my question is, do i have to earth my lamp, and how best can I do so? or by using double insulated cable can I avoid earthing? As you may have guessed Im a complete DIY noob, but I guess we all have to start somewhere, and I want to ensure I don't electrocute anyone... thanks D
