Claired Posted September 25, 2009 Report Posted September 25, 2009 HiWe are installing a wood burning stove into an existing fireplace. The fireplace (firechest) we took back to the original brick and then put a layer of concrete over the brick. This is where the wood burning stove will go.The surrounding fireplace chimney / breast we have had boxed off with plasterboard / plaster. However I just have a query whether this is OK from a building regs perspective? We have had two different people telling us different things.Does anyone have any knowledge of this? Thanks in advance
Vegetableman Posted October 10, 2009 Report Posted October 10, 2009 Plasterboard is fire resistant but you will need to seal the gap between the wall and the plasterboard. This stops the heat getting between the chimney breast and plasterboard. I know this as I have just done the same thing!I'm just trying to find what sealant to use.
