Oval extending table to a round table

I hope someone can help me, I have an oval extending table with two pedestals, the extending part is a leaf that is stored until needed.

Now I have looked and feel that if i move the fittings etc and cut both part of the oval table leaf it could be a smaller circular table on one pedestal... is this doable or am I crazy in thinking I can do this?

Thats perfectly do-able, no reason why not. Your clearly aware that it will be smaller and fittings need removing/moving, so if your happy to chop up your table then go for it.
