bighammer
I have read loads of times about fitting additional floor joists in the loft so my 275mm of insulation does get squashed. I have always had three concerns: price, weight and getting the stuff home. Anybody else?I have recently seen a new product in the Toolstation catalogue called a Loft Insulation Leg which looks like it does the same job as the new joists, anyone used them??. They look like they will be lighter and assume they'll be easier to get in the A3 than 3.3m lengths of 7" x 2", don't know about cost though?, anyone any thoughts???? goodfellow
Yes, I've used them in my business and they are good but you can't beat laying the additional joists at right angles to the existing joists. You might be able to haggle down the price of the wood from some of the merchants and they usually deliver too.
bighammer
The biggest problem with using timber is the weight, 7" x 2" isn't light, I'm going to put the plastic legs in there,I've worked out it is only slightly more expensive but considerably lighter....
