CBM Posted September 18, 2011 Report Posted September 18, 2011 Hi, a friend of mine is a jobbing bricklayer and he works in 3 & 1 gang, this year although he has found work he has found that the prices are getting tighter and tighter,He recently got a job where he is getting £600.00 per 1000 bricks laid.He stated that this price was "Too Good Too Turn Down." which got me thinking, What is the going rate for a bricklayer on price????????Thaks in advance CBM
Rich Posted September 23, 2011 Report Posted September 23, 2011 This depends on the complexity of what is being done, but £600 per 1000 is a ton of cash, as a good brickie can lay 1000 bricks-a-day in the right conditions, like building a straight wall, but if its something complex with lots of cutting and turns, then it could drop down to 1/5th of that, @ 200 a day, so his day rate could become his weekly pay...For the brick layer, I'd say the best bet is the day rate, but that would suit the employer, as they would prefer a per-job rate, so it all boils down to what the job is, and how good the brick layer is, and his negotiation skills.
