How much for 1000 bricks laid

Recommended Posts

Hi, a friend of mine is a jobbing bricklayer and he works in 3 & 1 gang, this year although he has found work he has found that the prices are getting tighter and tighter,

He recently got a job where he is getting £600.00 per 1000 bricks laid.

He stated that this price was "Too Good Too Turn Down." which got me thinking,

What is the going rate for a bricklayer on price????????

Thaks in advance CBM :)

This depends on the complexity of what is being done, but £600 per 1000 is a ton of cash, as a good brickie can lay 1000 bricks-a-day in the right conditions, like building a straight wall, but if its something complex with lots of cutting and turns, then it could drop down to 1/5th of that, @ 200 a day, so his day rate could become his weekly pay...

For the brick layer, I'd say the best bet is the day rate, but that would suit the employer, as they would prefer a per-job rate, so it all boils down to what the job is, and how good the brick layer is, and his negotiation skills.
