Hiya Best thing to do with this is to pressure wash the fence first, then leave to dry before spraying new colour. A good blasting with a Karcher will get the old colour off easy... Will get you a bit wet in the process, but its the only way to do it. As with ANY painting, you cannot, and will never be able to paint dark colours over other dark colours, it will look rubbish... You need a contrasting background/undercoat... So, a dark colour on a light wood is great, but put that same dark colour on a dark wood, and it will look totally different, if it shows up. Give the fence a Karcher blasting and all should be fine.. My fence is the same, it used to be a horrible Green, same colour as the grass, there was zero contrast in my garden at all, it sucked, so I blasted the entire fence, and it cleaned it all right off immediately, although it was slow work, do it on a warm/hot day and its not so bad

Hi there mystery guest with no name Is this the actual window itself, or, as you suggest, this is similar to it? This is more like an office window, and anything you want to fit on-top-of those blinds will have to fit onto the ceiling.. Whats the ceiling like, is it a good solid firm fitting to screw into and hold the weight of curtains or is it just plasterboard between joists?

Trust a Trader/ My Builder. etc etc......
Rich replied to CBM's topic in DIY Nightmares & Cowboy Builders
Tell me about it... The number of times I've had builder turn up and after 10 minutes will throw a price at me, and I have to ask, "So, how do you reach that figure, and how do we pay you?" which is when they start mumbling things and then blurt out "You can pay cash once the job is finished,,,, DOH, how about an answer to the question, a sensible answer... Almost all the builders I've dealt with in the last 5 (50+) years think a quote is to simply blurt out a figure and then ask for it in cash... Only 3 have ever bothered to provide a written quote without having to be asked, or have given me a verbal quote, with breakdown, and then confirmed it all by email... You can guess which ones got the job... If its a simple or a 1 day job, then its normal to simply pay upon completion, but still with a written quote... Protects everybody from "Mis-understandings"... -
Hi there Do you have a picture of the light fitting? I would highly suspect that it will just be the bulb and not the entire unit.. Nobody is stupid enough to make a light unit with a fixed bulb inside (I hope), as the unit would long outlive the bulb... Show us a picture of it (Attach it directly to your post upon reply)
