Hi Kay Have you been back to B&Q to ask them?

Well folks, after plodding along for 3yrs with what was initially setup as a test website, The DIY Forum has started to take off, so it was deemed worthy of an injection of cash to revamp it, re-organise things a bit, and do whats possible to improve features and functionality. Theres still some work to be done, implementing the DIY Resources section and the DIY Classifieds, but for now, the main site is all done and fully functional. Some slight changes to the rules regarding spammers and business people who seem to know NOTHING about earning a reputation, so any tradesmen dropping in to dump links will just be kicked out instantly, as this is a DIY community for DIY users. So, I sincerely hope you all enjoy the new website, and anything else you would like to see, please do let me know.

Hi Matti Purhaps an oil filled radiator might be more cost efficient? Cheap to buy, cheap to run..... The problem with storage heaters is that electricity doesnt really have an off-peak rate anymore like the old economy 7 used to when it was peanuts at night, and the price went up during the day, so something chomping up 7kw is going to cost a bomb to use. My entire house only use's 20kwh in 1 day, so 7kwh would really hurt the wallet... Hey, dont forget to drop into the welcomes section, tell us a bit about yourself, say hi, there is a new welcome thread just for you

Moved Into A New House With A Leak Under The Sink..
Rich replied to Sarah1's topic in Plumbing & Heating
Hi Sarah Sadly, without any pictures, all we have to go on is "He has taken "A" pipe"... Nobody will ever be able to help unless you can at the very least, maybe show us what it looks like, show us where water comes from if you turn the tap on in the sink??? Which tap did you turn on? Where did the water come from? Have you tried contacting the seller to ask which pipe they took? They could just mean the pipe that goes from the washing machine to the drain under the sink... If I took the hose-pipe from my washing machine to the drainpipe off, it would leave a hole in the top of the pipe for water to spout from like a fountain... See if you can get some pictures and show us, that way we can help you with your plumbing problems Dont forget to drop into the welcomes section and introduce yourself, there is already a nice welcome thread just for you -

Hi Dave Sadly your attachment only contained "shortcuts" to images rather than actual images themselves. Now we have our new software up and running, you should be able to attach your images directly to your post..

Thats sound weird to be honest, polypipe doesnt expend under pressure, its tempurature that makes it expand, not pressure, as the plastic only changes composition when heated, thus can expand, thats basic physics/science.. Although, given your drawings, the polypie must be really thin and flexible, so it probably does stretch under pressure, like a garden hose, sort of. I'd go with the Plumber, pressurise it the entire time, then if it shrinks a bit when cold, there is space in the cavity for it to shrink, rather than lay the floor with it shrunk, then crack the floor as it expands and heats up... That much is logical, no matter what pipe you lay down. The only danger that seems obvious is if the pipe gets damaged during the screeding, your going to have a right mess everywhere if it splits or gets cut, but screeding doesnt require sharp trowels.. So you have 1 supplier saying its not necessary, so really, thats the same as "You can if you like, but you dont need to" as they are not saying "Dont", just that you dont have to if you dont want to ggo to the extra work.
